Solid Wood, is milled from a single 3/4" thick piece of hardwood. It expands and contracts
with changes in humidity. A solid hardwood floor can be sanded and refinished over several generations of use. Damaged
boards can usually be repaired, rather than replaced. Solid wood is available either "unfinished" or "prefinished".
Unfinished wood is installed, then sanded, stained and finished with polyurethane. Prefinished wood is stained and finished
at a factory.
Engineered Wood, is manufactured by compressing several
layers of hardwood together with a thin veneer on top. We do not install engineered wood.
Installation:
Wood will be delivered to your home five to seven days in advance of your scheduled installation.
The wood must be placed inside the home to allow the wood to acclimate to the humidity level in your home. This will
prevent buckling, cupping or warping of floor. On unfinished wood, dustless sanding, staining and the application
of the 1st coat of polyurethane will be done the same day, or the next day, depending on the size of the installation.
The second coat of polyurethane will be applied one to two days later. You will be able to walk on your new floor eight
to 12 hours after the polyurethane has been applied.
